MR with all due respect you would not be able to take out either one of those guys. even back in the day. Otherwise you would be a world champion many times over in some mixed martial art.

as for more "real" fights. no ring, no padding, no gloves.

here you go

note that this is very graphic

and this is one reason Why Amateurs Should Not Box Pros

You could do it if you fought dirty. Say diving right at them and going straight for the eyes. After you rip someones eyes out the fight is pretty much over.

I like you MR, but both of those guys are way, way too tough for anyone here to fight without weapons. Matt Hughes especially is one of the most dominant fighters who has ever lived on this planet, and a complete genetic freak as well as a full-time professional fighter. If you truly would have been able to take these guys on years ago you are without doubt the most giften full-contact fighter that has ever lived, and have doubtlessly earned untold millions with your fighting skills.

Even a wolf knows not to tackle a bear alone.

You never know who someone is on the internet. Who was the best fighter 20 years ago?

UFC (or the Japanese PRIDE, the top fight organization) didn't exist 20 years ago. Fighting has evolved a lot since then. Possibly, if MR is in reality Muhammad Ali, he would have had chance, but only a chance. Pro fighting has evolved tremedously since then, the current champions (such as Hughes) are WAY better than fighters of the yesteryear as they are good at all disciplines (grappling, boxing, ju-jitsu, sambo etc.), and not just one martial art. Just like sprinters can do 100 yards faster these days than champions decades ago. I'll give MR a benefit of doubt. Perhaps we have a one of the living legends of professional fighting amongst us, that would be cool!

He could be right. When I was younger I looked in on a college Karate class and knew I could take the teacher in a very short time.
At a 135 or forty lbs I was attacked because of one of my buddies big mouth this was in a waterfront and tuff neighbor hood. I walked into this, did not see it coming. Well I beat the crap out of the guy and because he would not stop fighting and trying to hurt me I bit him 5 to 7 times to really give him something to remember me by. Well after he could not move I got up to walk home. Well his cousin among others saw it. He came charging out of some building grabbed hold of me and said we are going to see what you did to him then I am going to kick your ass accordingly. Well I did not like this idea. My arms were tired so I kicked him. He hit me four times in the head before I got my hands up. Will I beat him so bad that he could not get up and I walked home. None of the other friends and cousins did a thing even though the whole time I was beating up the first guy they were kicking at me and trying to hit me till about the very end of the first fight.

Years later I made friends with this fisherman. He was a very tough guy and he said years earlier that he thought of trying to start a fight with me because he heard others talking that I was a good fighter. He said my hands looked soft and he was sure he could take me. I told him about that fight with those guys from the waterfront. He then told be that I had beat up the strongest, toughest guy on the waterfront. He was shocked that little me did that. He said he would have guessed the first guy could have taken me or something like that. Story of my life. In school friends kept telling me this guy could take me. Well the guy picked on my little brother on the basketball court as he was the littlest guy playing. Well my little brother would not back down. My little brother (four years younger than me) hit him one time and sent him to the hospital in bad shape.
Every once in a while when drunk I would go down in that area and call them out. Never once did one ever come out of their houses.

Fighting is fighting and I will admit these guys doing that crazy fighting today are real good. But I went to watch pro boxing when a young adult and thought I could take everyone on the card but maybe one guy and I just thought he would out point me because he could out box me he had a real good jab he was one those long lean guys and very good boxer. I was not a boxer. He was a regional champion for the North Eastern U.S. at 18 years old. We would not have been in the same weight class he was much bigger and taller. The big guys I believed I could take. I fought a black guy as big as George Forman in the Navy he could not get the best of me and I was being nice as we worked on the same tug and I had to see the guy everyday. I weight about 140 him about 245 he could do nothing with me at all. At that time I could bench press about 265 I was the MVP of my high school cross country team and loved to long distance run so I just did not tire all that easy.

When young I saw some old timers that were so strong you could hardly believe it. Even these steroid freaks today would have a hard time keeping up. If they even could keep up.
On my best day there would have been almost nothing or nothing I could have done against those old timers and I never saw them in their prime. I don't believe I have seen anyone on TV in those crazy fights that could have handled them also. Most were farmers one was a shop teacher that played in the old NBA.

Don't underestimate the men that came before you. They did not take drugs to run faster and many did not play games.

WAoG, I hear you. I have seen old timers do feats of strength cutting and moving huge oak logs by themselves that had me catching flies in amazement, and they were white headed! Dad said his grandad used to put the wagon bed on by himself. As in lift the whole thing by hand, no leverage, and position it. Hothouse muscle is not the same as work every day muscle.

As for the fighting, some people have something I am not sure is physical, in the normal sense of the word, plus speed, strength, a natural punch, whatever. Like the stories of the desperate grannie lifting a car off a child after a wreck.

I know I have that one. When startled I have picked up guys much larger than I am what felt like so lightly, just my hands on his shoulders, and flicked my wrist, or so it felt, and sent him airborne into a wall. It felt effortless. I think it is more than adrenaline, but some way intention works with matter that we do not yet fully understand. It sounds to me like you have an extra helping of that. (In that case I did not want to hurt the guy, but I wanted him away from me immediately. After he crunched into the wall, he and I were on the same page about that.)

Agreed. Fedor is by far the best unarmed fighter on the planet right now. Everyone should watch his match against Zuluzinho.
